Licence agreement
Crawl Master End User Licence Agreement. You accept this when you install the app.
Version: draft 1, October 2026
1. About this agreement
This agreement is between you and Higgins Development ("we", "us"), a business based in the United Kingdom. It covers the Crawl Master software, its updates, and its documentation ("the software").
By installing or using the software you agree to these terms. If you are using it for a business, you agree on behalf of that business. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.
2. Your licence
When you buy a licence, we give you, the licensee, a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the software, for your own purposes or your business's, on any number of computers you own or control. If a business buys the licence, the licensee is the named person it is bought for.
Each installation checks your licence key with our licence server when you enter it and from time to time after that. If you stop using the software on a computer, you can tidy up by removing the key from it (About > Deactivate this computer).
We own the software and keep all rights not given to you in this agreement. You buy a licence to use it, not the software itself.
3. Free trial
You can use every feature free for 14 days from the first time you open the software. After the trial, you need a licence to start new crawls, scheduled crawls or scans. Crawls you saved during the trial stay on your computer, and you can still open and export them without a licence.
4. What you must not do
You must not:
(a) copy the software, except to install it on computers you own or control and to make backup copies;
(b) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except where the law allows you to do so and this cannot be excluded by contract;
(c) remove, disable or get round the licence check or the trial;
(d) share, sell, rent, lend or publish your licence key, or let anyone other than the licensee use it;
(e) remove any copyright or other notices from the software;
(f) use the software to break the law, to overload, attack or gain unauthorised access to any website or system, or to collect personal data unlawfully.
5. Crawling websites responsibly
The software visits the websites you tell it to. You are responsible for making sure you are allowed to crawl them, for the speed settings you choose, and for how you use what the software collects. Respect each site's terms and the law, including data protection law if a site holds personal data. By default the software obeys robots.txt files; if you turn that off, you take responsibility for doing so.
6. Updates and support
We may release updates that fix problems or add features. The software can download and install them for you; you can choose to be asked first in Settings. We will provide reasonable email support for the version you are licensed for. We may stop supporting old versions.
7. Third-party software
The software includes open-source components, each under its own licence. You can read them in the app (About > Open-source licences). Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under those licences.
Screaming Frog is a trade mark of Screaming Frog Ltd. Google, Search Console and PageSpeed Insights are trade marks of Google LLC. Other names are trade marks of their owners. Crawl Master is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
8. Third-party services
Some features connect to services run by others, such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights, Ahrefs, Majestic, Moz, and AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google Gemini. You connect them with your own accounts and keys. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and you are responsible for any charges they make, including AI usage on your key. We are not responsible for those services, their availability or changes to them. Suggestions written by AI services can be wrong; check them before you rely on them.
9. Your data and privacy
Your crawls are stored on your own computer. The software only sends information to us or others as described in the privacy notice (About > Privacy notice).
10. If you are a consumer
If you are buying as a consumer (not for a business), you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The software must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. Nothing in this agreement affects those rights. If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and that is because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
Purchases are handled by Stripe Managed Payments, which acts as merchant of record. Its buyer terms, shown at checkout, cover payment and tax. Cancellations and refunds are explained at https://higginsdevelopment.co.uk/crawl-master/terms/
We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: if Crawl Master isn't right for you, email josh@higginsdevelopment.co.uk within 30 days of buying and we'll refund you in full. This is on top of your legal rights.
11. Limits on our liability
Nothing in this agreement limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Accessibility, SEO and other checks are automated. They help you find problems but cannot confirm that a website complies with any law or standard, such as WCAG, the Equality Act 2010 or the European Accessibility Act.
If you are a consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking this agreement or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. The software is for private use; if you use it for a business, we have no liability to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
If you are a business:
(a) apart from the terms in this agreement, and to the extent the law allows, the software is provided "as is", without other warranties or conditions;
(b) we do not promise that the software will be free of errors, that it will find every problem on a website, or that following its advice will improve your search rankings;
(c) we are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
(d) our total liability to you under or in connection with this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for your licence in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Ending this agreement
You can stop using the software at any time. We can end your licence if you seriously break this agreement and, where the problem can be put right, you do not put it right within 14 days of us asking. When the agreement ends you must stop using the software and uninstall it.
13. General
This agreement, together with the privacy notice and the terms you accepted when you bought your licence, is the whole agreement between us about the software.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under this agreement to another organisation. You may only transfer yours with our written agreement.
If a court finds part of this agreement unlawful, the rest stays in force.
Nobody else has any rights under this agreement under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
If we do not enforce our rights straight away, we can still enforce them later.
14. Law and courts
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
